While we are huge fans of power washing surfaces we always want people to double check that the surface they want cleaned is power-wash-friendly. While the power of pressure washing tools is very handy for some surfaces, it is not suitable for others. Our team here at Diamond Power Washing and Maintenance have compiled a list of surfaces that are safe to spray:

1. Driveways and Sidewalks
I think we can all agree that driveways and sidewalks are some of the most satisfying surfaces to clean! Whether it’s just a maintenance cleaning, or an oil stain cleaning, you can safely spray away! According to experts, a narrow pencil nozzle is best for small spots, (such as oil stains). Larger rotary nozzles are best for big surfaces (such as your sidewalk and/or driveway).

2. Roofing
So power washing your roof can be a little iffy. So what’s the answer? CAN you power wash a roof? The answer is yes. However, proceed with caution. Make sure to power wash it very gently to prevent any shingle damage.

3. Siding
Power washing the side of your home can make a huge cosmetic difference, especially if you plan on putting your home on the market. However, it is important to know what kind of siding you have. Vinyl siding and fiber cement sliding are able to take higher pressure. On the other hand, aluminum siding you cannot. Aluminum siding will dent with high pressure so experts recommend using soft pressure.

4. Decks and Patios
Decks and patios can collect a lot of grime, algae and mold, so a high pressure wash is what works best. This applies whether your deck/patio are made of concrete, wood, stone or pavers.

We hope this guide can help you differentiate which surfaces are safe to power wash. If you are looking for pressure washing surfaces be sure to contact us at info@diamondpwm.com for a free estimate.
